The GESIS Spring Seminar (formerly ZA Spring Seminar) has been taking place in Cologne annually for more than 40 years. It offers three consecutive one-week courses in advanced methods of quantitative data analysis for Social Scientists, including a preparatory course in Mathematics for Social Scientists. Language of instruction is English.

Objectives

The GESIS Spring Seminar offers high quality training in state of the art techniques in quantitative data analysis taught by foremost experts of the field. Each year a specific topic guides the courses. The Spring Seminar aims to

§     provide in depth knowledge of state of the art quantitative analysis

     techniques in the social sciences

§     enable participants to apply state of the art quantitative analysis

     techniques to their own research projects

§     provide participants the opportunity to discuss their own research with

     interested colleagues and foremost experts

§     provide participants good networking opportunities, a supportive social

     environment, and an exciting time in Cologne

 

Spring Seminar Prerequisites

In addition to the prerequisites mentioned in the syllabi of the courses, all Spring Seminar participants are expected to meet the following general criteria:

§     have a sound knowledge of quantitative research methods

§     have a good command of English as the Spring Seminar will be held

     entirely in English 

 

How to Choose the Courses

The courses of the Spring Seminar are structured consecutively, but participants are free to choose any or all courses they are interested in.

Miscellaneous

If a course is fully booked, please place yourself on the waiting list. Travel costs, accommodation and meals are not included. Please make your own arrangements. We strongly recommend that you arrange accommodation as soon as possible after you have registered. The demand for accommodation can be high in Cologne.
