9th Summer School in Survey Methodology (Online Seminar!)

Datum: 29.07 - 21.08.2020 ics-Datei

The GESIS Summer School 2020 has been moved online! For the first time since it was established in 2012, the GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology will take place online as a virtual summer school. Lecturers and participants from all over the world and from many different fields will meet online to take part in Europe's leading summer school in survey methodology, research design, and data collection---recommended by the European Survey Research Association (ESRA).
The 9th GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology will take place online from 29 July to 21 August 2020. Please find the full program above. For the revised class times and course structures see the detailed course descriptions.
The GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology offers high quality training in state of the art techniques and methods of survey research. It aims to:
  • give a broad overview of survey methods;
  • equip participants with essential skills in the design, planning, execution, documentation and quality assurance of surveys;
  • provide an opportunity to deeply engage with the different tasks of survey design and implementation (such as questionnaire design, sampling, nonresponse and fieldwork monitoring), different survey modes (such as personal interviews, web surveys, and mixed-mode), and research designs involving surveys (such as mixed methods, factorial surveys, longitudinal surveys and cross-national surveys).
    Summer School Prerequisites
    In addition to the prerequisites mentioned in the syllabi of the courses, you will be expected to
  • have basic knowledge of empirical research methods;
  • have good English language skills, as the Summer School will entirely be held in English.
    Course Structure
    The first virtual GESIS Summer School offers both short courses and one-week courses. Short Courses are three-day courses with a total amount of 12 hours of virtual class time. One-week courses are five-day courses with a total amount of either 30 hours or 24 hours of virtual class time. In both short courses and one-week courses participants can expect a mix of interactive teaching and exercises. For more information see the detailed course descriptions and syllabi.
    Given the daily workload, participants can register for one course per week only.
